NCBA Governance Task Force

Meeting Report (Jan. 8-9, 2009)

The NCBA Governance Task Force met January 8-9 in Denver, Colorado. The purpose of the Task Force representing NCBA members, state affiliates and beef councils is to improve ownership among stakeholders, ensure fair representation among investors, create more integration between NCBA’s two divisions, align governance with the Industry Long Range Plan, deliver on NCBA’s founding principles of “One Vision-One Plan-One Budget-One-Voice”, and be nimble, efficient and effective.

During its meeting in Denver, the Task Force reviewed information it gathered from people that hold positions in the governance structure. The Task Force worked on a process for the governance review. Task Force members discussed and developed Performance Requirements that define what NCBA’s governance should do and accomplish. The Task Force will be presenting updates at several meetings during the Cattle Industry Annual Convention which will be held January 28-31, 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona.
