ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, NUTRITION
Reports to: Director, Nutrition
(Based in Denver office)
General Responsibilities:
The Associate Director, Nutrition provides beef nutrition counsel and technical support to NCBA staff, allied industry, stakeholders and others. This person manages the beef industry’s health professional partnerships, providing innovative direction to beef’s relationships with this important audience. This person oversees the development of nutrition programs to health professionals and their organizations.
Specific Responsibilities:
· Manages all aspects of the NCBA relationships with health professional organizations, including execution of industry presence at national nutrition meetings such as the American Dietetic Association.
· Assists state beef councils with local health professional outreach, including management of beef’s Nutrition Seminar Program.
· Manages budgets and agency support of programs under his/her purview.
· Assists with the management of the Council for Women’s Nutrition Solutions, the industry’s scientific nutrition advisory board.
· Executes industry’s electronic outreach to health professionals.
· Ensures outreach to nutrition spokespeople with relevant beef nutrition information and science.
· Manages the beef industry’s involvement in national seminars, including regional protein summits and ADA Dietetic Practice Group meetings.
· Develops and controls the annual budget for the health professional program
· Responds to NCBA staff and Beef Board inquiries for health professional information.
· Serves on the Nutrition Strategy Team
· Supports Nutrition Team on partnerships and programs with other commodities and beef industry stakeholders
· Supports the Director, Nutrition in preparing for the Joint Nutrition Influencers Subcommittee.
· Assists with health professional and youth education exhibits as requested.
· All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- The candidate for Associate Director, Nutrition must be a registered dietitian with related experience in association work and/or working for the private sector for 2-4 years is preferred. Experience in working with the medical community is essential as well as excellent communication and writing skills. She/he must have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to understand complex scientific information and translate such information into layman's language. The candidate must be detail-oriented, flexible, self-directed and a team player. Work assignments are varied and across the board. She/he should be able to perform well under intense pressure or periodic heavy workloads. The position requires occasional travel and meeting attendance. The individual who is hired will be evaluated on the results of work performed and will be encouraged to grow within the department as well as within the organization.
