The future of American farm policy is of the utmost importance to NCBA members. Various issues are in the spotlight right now, with the 2002 Farm Bill expiring in September 2007. NCBA members support an equitable farm policy and actively support environmentally-friendly land conservation programs and initiatives.

NCBA is working to minimize direct federal involvement in agricultural production methods and preserve the individual’s right to manage land, water, and other resources. Cattlemen want farm policies to provide an opportunity to compete in foreign markets. We support our nation’s commitment to reduce dependence on foreign energy, and efforts to develop forms of renewable energy.  Renewable energy and ethanol production are of great importance to the cattle industry because of the impact on feed-grain prices.
