The tour begins in Denver [on May 28] with a comprehensive overview of the industry, before heading to Western Kansas to visit cattle producing operations. The group will then travel to Sioux City, Iowa to tour one of the largest beef packing and processing plants in the world, then head to Chicago where they’ll visit the Chicago Board of Trade and a meat purveyor facility. The tour ends next week in the nation’s Capitol, where the young leaders will have a chance to meet with congressmen, senators and regulatory agencies that make decisions affecting agriculture.

With the beef industry changing so rapidly, NCBA says that identifying and educating leaders to help guide and strengthen the industry has never been so important. Over 950 cattlemen and women have graduated from the YCC program since its inception in 1980.
