MANAGER, NUTRITION RESEARCH
(Based in Denver office)
Reports to: Executive Director, Nutrition Research
General Responsibilities:
To work with the Executive Director in planning, developing, managing and implementing beef nutrition programs that are designed to establish, monitor and disseminate scientific evidence on beef’s role in a healthy diet and support the overall initiatives of the beef industry nutrition program.
Specific Responsibilities:
· Work with the Executive Director and industry leaders in developing research priorities for the industry.
· Manage the annual Nutrition Research Request for Proposal process.
· Work with the Executive Director, producer leadership and other Research, Education, Innovation (REI) and Nutrition staff to develop, initiate and manage research projects in support of key industry strategies and programs.
· Manage partnerships with national level scientific societies and associations designed to establish awareness of the Nutrition Research Program.
· Monitor, review and interpret current nutrition science literature to assist Nutrition Strategy Team in identifying relevant studies and issues impacting the nutrition program.
· Manage Nutrition Research dissemination program and coordinate efforts with the Director, Research Information to share program results and successes with a broad industry and academic audience through print and online resources.
· Manage nutrition research information requests from producers, state affiliates/state beef councils, allied industry partners, the scientific community and numerous other industry stakeholders.
· Prepare research reports from completed projects as well as prepare and execute presentations to the industry and professional groups.
· Work with the Executive Director to develop Authorization Requests and monitor and maintain program budgets.
· Assist with the management of beef producer leadership committees and subcommittees.
· Serves as on-site liaison for Nutrition Research to the REI department and Nutrition Strategy Team.
Qualifications:
Must have a Master of Science or higher degree in Nutrition Science or a closely related field with a minimum of two years of nutrition science experience beyond the graduate degree. The individual must be experienced in the areas of beef nutrition, research design and interpreting data for scientific and lay audiences. Strong knowledge of population intake datasets and epidemiology would be desirable. In addition, the individual must be a proven team player with excellent oral and written communications skills.
